Granello - Pizza Italiana
About This Spot
Stepping into Granello - Pizza Italiana, you immediately sense a rhythm that’s both unhurried and inviting, nestled comfortably in the heart of Athens on Perikleous Street. The evening air carries hints of freshly baked dough and aromatic herbs, blending effortlessly with the soft murmur of conversation and the occasional clink of glasses. It’s a place where time slows just enough to savor the moment without feeling rushed.
The atmosphere here strikes a thoughtful balance between casual neighborhood warmth and a subtle nod to Italian tradition. Whether you find yourself seated inside amid the delicate glow that highlights rustic wood and gentle tile accents or outside along the lively street, there’s a human pulse running through the space—a shared appreciation for food and company that feels immediate and genuine.
Granello’s approach to pizza encourages a feeling of discovery rather than mere consumption. The dough, celebrated for its crisp, yet tender character, is a foundation for more than just flavors; it’s an invitation to explore simple ingredients transformed through care and a touch of artistry. From the wood-roasted Margherita to options that embrace bolder accents like truffle or spicy oils, there’s a quiet craftsmanship evident in every bite. Alongside these, thoughtfully chosen appetizers and desserts echo the same attention to detail, weaving familiar Italian comfort into the fabric of each evening spent here.
The pace often reflects the honest rhythm of good company—sometimes leisurely, sometimes lively, but always unforced. You might find yourself lingering over a glass of red wine as the kitchen takes its time, trusting that the eventual arrival will be worth that moment of pause. And as conversations swirl around the shared plates, there’s an easy sense of belonging, like you’ve stepped into a place where both the city’s pulse and the warmth of tradition meet thoughtfully on your plate.

It is Pizza to die for. But also Pizza to wait for ;-) They were upfront and told me it takes 25min. Thats ok. So drink some more wine The Pizza is really good. Love the crust. When you book a table I'm sure u get a table outside. Ask for the spicy oil. Loved it. Only one wine by the glass though. But it was a good one.

I loved the allay, the street, the setting, the decoration and over all the food. Ordered pizza with truffles it tasted just perfect! And if you wanted to be spicy they had a variety of hot sauces u can add. Such a nice place for a night stroll dinner. Also, stuff was nice and the pizza was extra FAST!

Overpriced for the quality of food. We had the mozzarella sticks for starters which smelled of oil and were quite greasy. Additionally, they were not hot, warm at best. The pizza with prosciutto and mushrooms was delicious as opposed to the pizza carbonara which was very mediocre. €14 for six pieces of pizza is a little overpriced for my taste, especially when they are mediocre to good. Our server was extremely polite, patient and professional! The atmosphere wasn’t bad, but I have to say that the lady who was the Mater D was very difficult in the seating arrangements. A little arrogant and not willing to accommodate.

The pasta ragu was definitely the best dish for me! The place is generally nice, the interior and downstairs area are beautiful, though the outdoor seating on the street isn’t as charming. I really enjoyed the food! You do notice some repetition in the ingredients across several dishes, but honestly, that’s not a big issue. It doesn’t quite deserve a perfect 5, but giving it a 4 would feel unfair so I’m giving it 5.

Excellent Italian restaurant, with a focus on pizza. If you're in the mood for an authentic Napoleon style pizza, this is the place. We shared a couple pizzas and a couple different appetizers, and were blown away by each. The service was prompt and courteous, and we left full and happy.

Very tasty pizza. I chose the greca and it was amazing. You should definetly give them a try. We had to wait for a table but it was totally worth it.

This place is Amazing If you’re looking for the best pizza around. Totally worth a while I had a truffle and carbonara Pizza, they were both Amazing. There’s unisex toilet you can use, try arriving early if you are hungry to avoid waiting 30 Minutes for your pizza, I went in summer high season, and it’s pretty busy.
